Dubrovnik
During the early part of this summer, I spent 10 days
travelling around Montenegro and Croatia with my boyfriend and his family. This
was the first time I explored these two countries by yacht, it was a different
experience but it was a great one. It was an opportunity to travel and visit
many towns across the coast line.
One of our stops was Dubrovnik, a city located at the
Croatian coast on the Adriatic Sea, in the region of Dalmatia. Over the years
it has become one of the most popular tourist destinations and in 1979,
Dubrovnik became listed as a World Heritage site. When we arrived at Dubrovnik,
we stayed at the ACI Marina. If you ever decide to travel to Dubrovnik by yacht
I would suggest staying at the ACI Marina; the Marina has two restaurants,
showers, mini golf and even a local store. There is a bus stop directly outside the marina, and the journey to Old Town will only take 15-20 minutes.
Once you are off the bus you are welcomed by large crowds of
tourists waiting to go to their chosen attraction. When entering Old Town, you are struck by the vibrant stone buildings that glance down upon the lively streets that are
filled by many souvenir shops, and little street acts to grab your attention.
A little fact about Old Town, if you a big Game of Thrones
fan you need to know that this was the exact location of where Kings Landing
was filmed. For me it was a strange feeling of excitement as I explored every
twist and turn, stumbling across various locations were parts of the series was
filmed.
